3 The DIR-505 is an all-in-one mobile router that allows users to use it is a variety of different modes including: – Router/Access Point – Repeater – Wifi Hotspot The DIR-505 also allows you to share Videos, Music and Photos from your USB thumb or external hard drive. Its small compact design is perfect for the person on the go who needs their own secure wireless network anywhere they go. What is the DIR-505?

9 Router Mode Note: The Ethernet Port turns into a WAN port when in Router Mode. You cannot connect a computer to this port. Step 1: Select Router/AP Mode Step 2: Plug in DIR-505 Step 3: Connect Modem to DIR-505

10 Router Mode Step 4: From a wireless computer/device, scan for available networks and connect to the pre-defined SSID (Located on the Companion Card supplied with the DIR-505 and on the bottom of the DIR-505) e.g. Dlink-E81A.

11 Router Mode Step 5: Open your web browser and type: http://dlinkrouter – Windowshttp://dlinkrouter http://dlinkrouter.local – MAC/iPhonehttp://dlinkrouter.local http://192.168.0.1 – Any Operating Systemhttp://192.168.0.1 Step 6: Run Setup Wizard to configure router settings

12 Router Mode Step 7: Once configuration is complete, if you changed the SSID or password you will automatically be disconnected. You will need to re-scan for wireless networks and connect to your newly configured network. DIR-505 Network

14 Repeater Mode Note: This configuration can be done Wired or wireless. Step 1: Select Repeater Mode Step 2: Plug in DIR-505 Step 3: Connect to the wireless signal of the DIR-505

15 Repeater Mode Note: You will not obtain an IP address from the DIR-505, however, you should be able to log in using the following: http://dlinkrouter – Windows http://dlinkrouter http://dlinkrouter.local – MAC/iPhonehttp://dlinkrouter.local Note: If this does not work, set a static IP of 192.168.0.x and log into the DIR-505 with 192.168.0.1 Step 4: Run Setup Wizard

16 Repeater Mode Step 5A: Select Configuration Method: WPS or Manual - WPS may be the easiest method. If the wireless router supports WPS, select this option - Press the WPS button the wireless router

17 Repeater Mode - Click Save

18 Repeater Mode Step 5B: Select Configuration Method: WPS or Manual - WPS may be the easiest method. If the wireless router supports WPS, select this option - The DIR-505 will scan for available wireless networks

19 Repeater Mode - Select the desired wireless network and click connect - Enter your wireless password (if applicable)

20 Repeater Mode - Click Save

21 Repeater Mode w/ D-Link Router - When using the DIR-505 in repeater mode with any D-Link Router, you may run into problems because both the router and DIR-505 are using the same IP address. - In these cases, you would be best to change the IP address of the DIR-505 - Once you connect to the DIR-505, cancel the setup wizard to access the Main Configuration page

22 Repeater Mode w/ D-Link Router - The default username is admin and there is no password - Click on Setup Tab > LAN Setup

23 Repeater Mode w/ D-Link Router - Select Static IP from “ My LAN Connection is:” - Enter an IP that is different than the router. (i.e. For D-Link, the routers IP is 192.168.0.1, so we can change it to 192.168.0.2) - Click Save - Log into the DIR-505 with the new IP address - Continue setup as normal

25 WiFi HotSpot Mode Note: This configuration can be done Wired or wireless. Step 1: Select Wi-Fi Hot Spot Mode Step 2: Plug in DIR-505 Step 3: Connect to the wireless signal of the DIR-505

26 Step 4: The DIR-505 will scan for available wireless networks Step 5: Select the desired wireless network and click connect WiFi HotSpot Mode

27 Step 6: Enter your wireless password (if applicable) Step 7: Uncheck “Use the same Wifi….) and enter your new SSID and Password WiFi HotSpot Mode

28 Your new secure wireless network is now setup. WiFi HotSpot Mode

29 WiFi HotSpot Mode w/ D-Link Router - When using the DIR-505 in HotSpot mode with any D-Link Router, or Router using the 192.168.0.x subnet you will run into problems because both the router and DIR-505 are using the same subnet. - In these cases, you would be best to change the IP address of the DIR-505 - Once you connect to the DIR-505, cancel the setup wizard to access the Main Configuration page

30 WiFi HotSpot Mode w/ D-Link Router - The default username is admin and there is no password - Click on Setup Tab > LAN Setup

31 WiFi HotSpot Mode w/ D-Link Router - Select Static IP from “ My LAN Connection is:” - Enter an IP that is on a different subnet than the router. (i.e. For D-Link, the routers IP is 192.168.0.1, so we can change it to 192.168.1.1) - Click Save - Log into the DIR-505 with the new IP address - Continue setup as normal 1.1
