3. LES Membership Statistics 4,800 members in the US and Canada as of December 31, 2011 11,000 LES members worldwide in 32 societies High Tech and Life Sciences are the two largest Sectors represented New Jersey and Chicago are the two Chapters with the largest membership concentration 3

LES Membership Trends The Good News –The number of new members has been increasing since 2009 with 1,185 new members in 2011 The Bad News –Overall membership in LES has decreased from a high of almost 6,000 members in 2006 How Chapters Are Affected –Participation in national meetings has decreased while participation in webinars and Chapter events has increased 4

The Role of Chapters in Membership Chapters are the primary point of interaction for many LES members Membership applications at all meetings Recognition of members at meetings Remarks at each meeting on the benefits of membership Encourage non-members to join Welcome new members Follow up with non-member attendees 5
