2 INTRODUCTION We are going to read a story titled COUNT! In this story we are going to count animals.

3 MATERIALS Count ! By Denise Fleming. PENCILS. PAPER CRAYONS

4 What are some of the things that we can count in our classroom? Counting is to find the total number of objects. I am going to read a book titled COUNT! Let’s take a picture walk. What did you see in the book?

5 As I read COUNT!.... I will stop to practice counting. I will first model counting by pointing to the animals on each page Then as I read I will allow students to count. Who can count the fish?

6 After reading I will ask children to retell the story and ask them these questions. 1.How many crocodiles? 2.How many zebras? 3.How many giraffes? How many worms?.

7 .I will give a paper and crayon to children to draw their favorite animal from the story. I will give children a paper to trace numbers from 1 to 10. Children will watch a video on counting numbers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmqY_lhVVvs

10 TEACHER’S NOTE This is how I plan to implement the lesson : Day one- read aloud to the whole group. Then later read to small group. Day two do the after reading activity. Day three do the beyond reading. we do not have a computer with internet access.
