4. Signs and Symptoms Elderly may be re-victimized in facilities or when they live alone after death of spouse/partner. Some of the recorded impacts of sexual abuse on seniors- sexual identity issues, sexual adjustment problems, low self- esteem, avoidance of sexual activity, sexual functioning problems, seeking inappropriate and high risk relationships, lower frequency of sexual pleasure, avoidance of intimacy. Prevention-investigation and being alert to signs and symptoms, look for warning signs of neglect, psychological changes, engage specialists in identifying and examining the possible incidents, reporting, and ensuring action is taken.
