adjectives: -ed vs. -ing adjectives ending in –ed describe what a person is feeling. Ann thought she had seen a ghost. She was very frightened! We were all surpised by the news.

adjectives ending in –ing are used to describe someone or something that provokes a certain feeling or sensation. The ghost was very frightening. The news is very surprising. Adjectives ending in –ing can be used after the very be or before the noun: The journey was very tiring. It was a very tiring journey.

Dear Mandy, I arrived here two days ago. The journey was tired/tiring, but I’m excited/exciting to be in Italy. It’s such a relaxed/relaxing place.
