12 Removing the Back Cover  Hold the device securely with the front facing down. With your thumb or finger, lift up the top of the back cover. Lift up from the narrow opening

21 Setting Up Your Phone for the First Time  You can start setting up your email accounts and social networks right away.  Google™, Facebook™, Flickr ®, Twitter™, Microsoft ® Exchange ActiveSync and other email accounts.  Choose which accounts you want to set up. Tap Skip if you do not want to set up accounts. Tap Finish to finish the setup process and go to the Home screen.*

22 Exploring the Home Screen  The Home screen gives you a lot of real estate to work with so you can add the items you want and need on the Home screen.  Add items like application icons, shortcuts, folders, and HTC or Google widgets to give you instant access to information and applications.  Press HOME to go back to the Home screen. 23 Working with the Extended Home Screen  The Home screen extends beyond the screen width to provide more space for adding icons, widgets, and more.  Press HOME, then slide your finger horizontally across the screen to go to the left or right side of the extended Home screen.  While on an extended Home screen, press HOME to return to the main Home screen.

24 Using the Onscreen Keyboard  When you start a program or select a field that requires text or numbers, the onscreen keyboard becomes available.  You can choose from three keyboard layouts: QWERTY, Compact QWERTY, and Phone keypad. 25 Making Calls Using the Dialer Step One  Press the CALL button or tap Phone on the Home screen.

31 Using the People Screen  The People screen gives you easy access to all of your contacts, favorite contacts, and groups. You can also view new Facebook and Flickr updates of your contacts and the Call History.  To open People, press HOME, tap the All programs button and then tap People.

43 Twittering with Peep TM  Peep is a Twitter™ client that lets you enjoy “twittering’’ on your phone.  To open Peep, press HOME, tap the All programs button, and then tap Peep.  To send a tweet, tap the text field with the words “What are you doing?”. Enter your tweet and then tap Update.

Step Three  Tap the APN setting item to edit it. Enter the APN settings.* Step Four  Press MENU, and then tap Save.

72 Connecting to Wi-Fi Step One  Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless controls. Step Two  Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on. The phone scans available wireless networks. Step Three  Tap Wi-Fi settings and then select a wireless network to connect and use. Tap Connect.

73 Surfing the Web Step One  Tap Browser on the Home screen. Press MENU and then tap the URL field on top of the screen.

Tap the “+” button. A new browser window opens and goes to the home page that is set.

76 Viewing Flash  See web pages come alive on a full-featured mobile browser that displays Flash-based sites.  You can also view Flash-based web components in full screen. To do this, open a Flash-based web page. Press and hold the web component to display the Shockwave Flash menu. Tap Play in full screen.

82 Recording Videos with Camcorder Step One  Press HOME, then tap the All programs button, and then tap Camcorder. Step Two  Frame your subject on the screen. Step Three  Press the TRACKBALL button to start capturing video. Press it again to stop capturing video.

83 Adjusting the Camera Settings Step One  While on the Camera or Camcorder screen, press MENU. Step Two  Tap the option in the menu panel that you want to change. Step Three  Specify your desired settings.

84 Using Albums  Albums lets you view photos and play back videos. You can also view your photos or your friends’ photos on Facebook or Flickr.  To use Albums, press HOME, then tap the All programs button, and then tap Albums. Tap an album to view your pictures and/or videos inside the album.

Step Two  Copy HTCSync.exe from the storage card to the computer’s desktop. Double-click it and then follow the installation instructions on the screen.

93 Setting Up HTC Sync Step One  On your computer, open HTC Sync and then connect the phone to the computer. Click Next. Step Two  Follow the setup instructions on the screen like the PC application to sychronize with, categories and information, and also your synchronization schedule.

94 Synchronizing Items Using HTC Sync Step One  On your computer, open HTC Sync and then connect the phone to the computer. Step Two  Synchronization will start automatically.  On the HTC Sync window, click Synchronize Now.  Synchronization will start depending on the date and time you set.

95 Installing Applications Using HTC Sync Step One  On your computer, open HTC Sync and then connect the phone to the computer. Step Two  Click Application Installer and then click Next on the Application Installer screen. Step Three  Click Browse to select the file to install. After selecting the file, click Next. Step Four  Click Finish. Check the phone if there are additional instructions to complete the installation.
