6 What are nonprofit organizations? Nonprofit organizations are organizations that serve a societal or group mission, while not pursuing self- interest or profit. Nonprofit organizations are tax-exempt and may receive tax-deductible contributions.

11 Advantages Nonprofit internships have rewarding and interesting work not found anywhere else –Nonprofit internships provide the opportunity to positively impact people

12 Nonprofit internships can be a great way to get a first internship –Nonprofit organizations like extra help

13 Nonprofit internships can provide excellent opportunities –Nonprofit internships provide a variety of growth opportunities by allowing interns to take on many diverse roles –Ex. Wrote Pioneer Press articles, helped plan the Wish Ball, re-launched the Kids For Wish Kids program, helped conduct fundraising

14 Nonprofit internships may be unpaid –Unpaid internships can demonstrate that you are willing to work for the experience and knowledge –Unpaid internships can get aid from the College of Liberal Arts CLA Undergraduate Internship Grant –Unpaid internships generally provide flexible hours Unpaid interns can work more hours if they want because, in general, organizations will not pay paid workers overtime if they want to work more Disadvantages
