Lightning Safety Rules During thunderstorms avoid –Open spaces –Trees and telephone poles –Ballparks –Water (swimming, fishing, boating) Safe places –Sturdy buildings (with a lightning rod) –Car (with windows rolled up; don’t touch metal)

Flooding Dangers Flash floods –Deceptive Water is deeper than it looks Water may be very swift –Most flooding deaths occur when motorists cross flooded roadways –Road may be washed out under the water –Cars will float in 1-2 feet of water

Flooding Safety Rules Be alert for flash flood watches and warnings Stay away from flooded creeks, streams, drainage ditches Do NOT cross flooded roads!
