Merger of the Department of Geosciences with the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences to form the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS, see ´ - os)

The transitional budget is minimal. Issues: None External Liaison: None (but none was expected) Internal Liaison: College of Agricultural Sciences 1. [ No. The title of the degree doesn’t matter. The certification is a test (≈ the bar exam). 7 Mike Bailey, OSU Curriculum Council mjb@cs.oregonstate.edu October 13, 2011 Executive Summary: Builds on the Masters in Public Policy (MPP) program, although anyone can enter this program without the MPP by completing core requirements from the MPP Emphasis on theoretical knowledge, research and analytic skills, and policy practice Areas of concentration: Environmental Policy International Policy Social Policy Rural Policy Science and Technology Policy Expect 5 students per year, with 25 in the program at any one time 3. Ph.D. in Public Policy

There doesn’t seem to be any good way to predict this. ] External Liaison: Conducted a needs assessment in Oregon and SW Washington. 150 government and non-profit agencies responded. PSU Internal Liaison: Geosciences Natural Resources Environmental Sciences Forest Ecosystems and Society Oregon Sea Grant COAS Education Agricultural and Resource Economics 3. Ph.D. in Public Policy

Would be able to get a degree in this area instead of just an option. Budget Impacts: Initially, Faculty 6.0 FTE, Support staff 1.0 FTE 4. B.S., B.A., B.F.A. in Digital Communication Arts

12 Mike Bailey, OSU Curriculum Council mjb@cs.oregonstate.edu October 13, 2011 Issues: Does the phrase “Digital Communications” imply what this major is about, or does it imply the design of electronics communications systems? [ That’s why the original name was changed to “Digital Communication Arts”. ] This program needs a fulltime advisor if this many students are expected to get internships. [ Jeff Hale will be assuming the advisor position. ] External Liaison: National Association of Broadcasters Oregonian PSU Dept of Art UO School of Journalism and Communication Brass Media Nike Internal Liaison: Web Communications group Art History Student Media Director University Advancement 4.
