Introduction For our computer science 101 class each student was assigned to write a report about learning and how we learn. We were also assigned to keep track of are everyday actions on what we did for an education bases with a SBR sheet. Lastly we were assigned to keep track of our weight, food intake, and exercise for the quarter. Trough these assignments I learned a lot about the process of learning as well as weakness of mine that hold me back to reach my full learning potential.

Metacognition Metacognition is the active monitoring and regulation of cognitive processes Elements to metacognition: Developing a plan What is it you want to accomplish and how? Maintaining/monitoring a plan Do the plan/ assignment try to reach your goal Evaluating the plan Finish did you accomplish your goal?

Procrastination Why: afraid of the outcome believe something is a waste of time Feel that the assignment is too hard How to overcome: spot straight away that you're doing it. identify why you're procrastinating develop: good time management organizational habits personal effectiveness habits

Effective Listening The average person listens only 25% effectively Effective listening is one of the key factors in learning How to be Better: actively absorb information given to you by a speaker show that you are listening and interested eye contact, face and lean toward the speaker nod your head when appropriate provide feedback to the speaker

Effective Note taking One of the key factors in learning is note taking! How to become an effective note taker: keep separate section of your notebook or binder for each course. For each lecture begin on a new page with a date of the lecture and numbering Brief notes; words/phases put notes in own words expect for formulae’s, definitions and specific facts rewrite or type your notes as soon as possible review the notes before each class when looking over the notes highlight information. have a study buddy in the class

My Outcome of Effective Note Taking Lecture/Lab #Review Notes Lab Grade % 10100 2194 31100 4038 5188 6195 71100 8192 91100 Midterm163 10195 11039 12177 13185 141 Part of being an effective note taker is to review notes before/ after class. This table shows that when I reviewed my notes I scored higher grades than when I did not.

My outcome for Study buddies A suggestion for being an effective listener and note taker is to have a study buddy. Through this graph you can tell every day that I decided to use a study buddies I either got 100% on the lab or close to it. This shows that study buddies are truly helpful in the learning process.

Conclusion Through my report and SBR database I learned a lot about learning and how I learn. I also learned what I need to work on and how to develop a plan to go about strengthening my weakness so I may continue to learn on my most potential.
