2 Click on ‘Interview Outcome pre-referee check’ step to commence the process of recording interview outcomes. Interview Outcome pre-referee check 1 NSW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITIES WWW.DEC.NSW.GOV.AU There are a number of way to access applications to record outcomes. The following is the most common method.

3 In the step “Interview Outcome pre-referee check”, the Hiring Manager moves the candidates from ‘Select Step Outcome’ to either: ‘Referee to be Contacted’ OR ‘Unsuccessful at Interview’ OR ‘Candidate Withdrawn’ if the candidate advises the panel they wish to withdraw their application for the position. To complete this step, the number in brackets against ‘Select Step Outcome’ must be ‘0’. If not then a candidate(s) has not been reviewed and therefore this step has not been completed. 2 Interview Outcome pre-referee check NSW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITIES WWW.DEC.NSW.GOV.AU Please note that for SAS Staff positions, the convener and at least one other panel member nominated by the selection panel will contact both referees for the recommended applicant and applicants placed on the eligibility list. Referees are to be contacted after the interview.

4 Select each candidate, one at a time, to indicate both referees have been contacted. After the candidate has been selected, click on the green arrow to move them to the ‘Referee to be Contacted’ status. Referees are to be contacted after the interview.

5 Select each candidate, one at a time, to add them to the ‘Unsuccessful at Interview’ status or ‘Not Eligible’ or ‘Candidate Withdrawn’ where relevant. Click ‘More Actions’ and then click ‘Change Step/status’ to select the ‘Unsuccessful at Interview’ status. 4 Interview Outcome pre-referee check NSW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITIES WWW.DEC.NSW.GOV.AU

6 Check the ‘New Status’ is correct. Select ‘Save and Close’ when you are finished. Comments are mandatory. 5 Interview Outcome pre-referee check NSW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITIES WWW.DEC.NSW.GOV.AU There are instructions at each Step/Status that you can access using this hyperlink. If you wish to see the details of the candidate you are currently moving through the Candidate Selection Process use this link. You will then be provided with a grey pop-up box to complete the candidate you have chosen. Do not check the ‘Send correspondence’ box. You will send correspondence to candidates at the end of the merit selection process through ‘More Actions’. As previously (refer page 5) the system will return you to the ‘Interview outcome pre-referee check’ Step screen once you have selected ‘Save and Close’.

7 Check all candidates have been moved to the another status in this step. 6 Interview Outcome pre-referee check NSW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITIES WWW.DEC.NSW.GOV.AU Once all candidates have been moved to ‘Referee to be Contacted’ status you are ready to progress to the next step of the Merit Selection process. Click on the double blue arrows to move candidates to the next step.

8 7 Interview Outcome pre-referee check NSW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITIES WWW.DEC.NSW.GOV.AU All candidates progressing to the ‘Referee contact after interview’ step will now move from the current step of ‘Interview Outcome pre- referee check’. The Hiring Manager/Hiring Manager Assistant will now need to close the current step by clicking on the X button.

9 8 Interview Outcome pre-referee check NSW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND COMMUNITIES WWW.DEC.NSW.GOV.AU In this scenario, a total of 9 candidates applied for this position. 6 candidates have been culled and referees would not need to be contacted and remain at Step; – ‘Review Applicants for Short Listing’ 1 candidate has been culled following the interviews and remains at the Step; ‘Interview Outcome pre-referee check’ – Unsuccessful at Interview. 2 candidates have been successful following the interview and Referee Contact After interview: They need to be ranked as: Recommended applicant Eligibility List (rank) Unsuccessful
