5 II. Containment After WWII American foreign policy will center on Containment Of communism. Keeping the Soviet Union in place. The Truman Doctrine: The U.S. would help any and all countries threatened by communism.

6 The Marshall Plan: U.S. Secretary of State George Marshall came up with a plan to rebuild the European Economy after WWII.

7 Marshall felt the best way to keep countries free from communism was to help them rebuild. 13 billion would be spent rebuilding Western Europe. Not one of these countries would fall to communism.
