Brahmaputra Board Set up by an act of Parliament -Brahmaputra Board Act, 1980 (46 of 1980) Started functioning with headquarters at Guwahati with effect from 11th January 1982 Main objective: Planning and integrated implementation of measures for control of flood and bank erosion in the Brahmaputra Valley and for matters connected therewith in association with concerned states 2

Jurisdiction The jurisdiction of the Board includes the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Northern part of West Bengal falling in Brahmaputra Basin 3

Anti-erosion measures in Bhajaner Charra area in Cooch Behar, W. Bengal Bank Protection work in Bhogdebri area, Cooch Behar, W. Bengal Administrative Approval, Expenditure Sanction and allocation of additional fund is required for execution of the schemes

Water Resources Department, Government of Assam framed one proposal amounting to ` crore for protection of North bank of Majuli Island along Subansiri River and Kherkatia Suti A Comprehensive Proposal amounting to ` crore including both the proposals of WRD, Assam and Majuli Phase-IV with certain additional works has been submitted to MoWR,RD&GR Decision in this regard is awaited
