2 Marketplace Marketplace- Where people buy and sell goods and services.

3 Marketplace A supermarket is one type of marketplace. Shoppers visit a supermarket to buy food products.

4 Producer Producer- A person who grows, makes, or sells goods.

5 Producer A restaurant cook is one kind of producer. Consumers visit restaurants in order to buy prepared foods.

6 Goods Goods- Things that can be bought and sold.

7 Goods A toy truck is one kind of good that can be purchased. A toy can be purchased at a toy store or shopping mall.

8 Services Services- Work done for others.

9 Services A hair dresser provides a service to his or her customers. A hair dresser cuts, colors, or styles hair. A hair dresser works in a beauty salon or barber shop.

10 Consumer Consumer- A person who buys and uses goods and services.

11 Consumer Anyone who spends money is a consumer! Americans are BIG consumers!

14 Shopping Fun Facts- United States Commerce Department On average, Americans saved less than -1% of their total income in 2006. Again, Americans are BIG spenders! In 2006, Americans spent all of their total earnings and then some! In China, the residents saved an average of 30% of their total income in 2006. China is one of the world’s fastest growing economies!
