2 Patron Driven Acquisition at UCLan: Reckless abandon or natural evolution? Why did we trial PDA in our library? How did we introduce PDA What have we discovered? Where do we go from here?

3 Why did we decide to trial PDA? National Student Survey “If you could change one thing about the University to improve your experience, what would it be?” “Add more books!” “Library books are not always available when you need them” “There's not many books available for my course.” “More books related to my course in the library, please!” “Better selection of books in library”

4 Choosing a supplier: Why Ebrary? Ebrary Academic Complete is our most popular eResource No need to add MARC records to our Library Catalogue Continued use after purchase Collection Management tool looked to be comprehensive and intuitive to use. Multiple PDA profiles could be created. Option to offer short-loans and/or outright purchase In 2011, we deposited £40,000 ($64,080) with Ebrary and also, £40,000 with Ebsco.
