2 The journey begins…..  E-brief request October 2011 Project Title: Improve Selection and Interview processes of Support staff working in NHFT.  First meeting Wednesday 30 th November

3 Objective and aim…..  Develop a robust selection and interview process to ensure that newly selected healthcare support staff have the abilities to embark on a continual career pathway of development.

4 Topics for discussion….  Literacy and Numeracy Skills  Communication Skills  Behaviours and Attitude  IT Skills  Compassion and Empathy Skills  Code of Conduct

5 Research begins….  To develop ideas for “A professional Code of conduct” for support staff  Discussions with senior colleagues  Peer group sessions  1-1 meetings with managers and medical staff

6 Feedback sessions…  12 th December 2011  Verbal feedback provided following discussions with NHFT Staff members  Draft Code of Conduct requested

7 Research continues….

8 Feedback continues….  12 th January 2012  Draft Code of Conduct produced  Initial draft 2 page document based on core NHFT values

9 Assignment complete?....  March 2013  Email received requesting assistance with new Support Worker Forums/Conference  Assigned Code of Conduct Project Lead

10 Project group requested….  First support worker forum 19 th February 2013  Assistance requested from colleagues to work upon contents of Code of Conduct  Information provided via email from project group

11 Skills for Health….  Release of National Minimum Training Standards  National Code of Conduct produced March 2013

13 Final changes….  Some changes to wording within document  Professional printers contacted  Funding received to produce professional booklet

15 The journey continues….  Director of Nursing NHFT advised trust publicist of Code of Conduct  Meeting arrange to discuss potential journal for publication  Article written by J Adams – NHFT Publicist incorporating Code of Conduct
