2 What is PDP? Structured process Supports you in achieving your: –Career –Educational –Professional –Personal goals The school will guide you through this process using a number of activities and supports.

3 Why engage in this process? Successful professionals set and achieve clear personal goals As a student you will learn to do this through PDP Helps you utilise QUB supports to best personal advantage Employers will be interested in your WHOLE development as a person

5 PDP Process Considering the evidence relating to your progress to date (Reflecting) Deciding on the next steps to take (Planning) Taking those steps (Doing) Monitoring and reviewing your progress as you go (Reviewing)

6 Year 1 PDP Goals 1 PDP Goal Information Goal Title: Develop your independent learning skills Goal Description As a university student you are expected to take responsibility for your own learning. This requires you to make regular and honest appraisals of your own progress to date and to plan your own studies and address most challenges, in terms of your understanding of topics, yourself.

9 Year 1 PDP Goals 3 Improve your performance in assessments; online exams, written assignments Throughout your course, you shall be expected to cope with a range of assessments. Like any other aspect of your course, you should view these as a learning experience and review your performance in each so that you can; a) Identify your strengths and replicate/build upon them in future. b) Identify areas for development so that you can eliminate them from future performances..10% Year 1 results will contribute to your degree classification

12 Contacting your Personal Tutor via e-mail Ensure that you click to tick the Personal Tutor that you wish to e-mail (some students may have more than one option)

13 Composing your e-mail Click on Browse to select the file you wish to attach Ensure your title is relevant and clarifies the content or subject for your Personal Tutor Note tone of e-mail is professional And courteous. Also student has identified year group

27 Medical or Disability issues Should be reported to the school: Personal tutor Assessment by occupational health and disability services. Notification to school of adjustments required Notification to academic and placement staff required meet NMC requirements to ensure adjustments are made to support you.

28 Individual meetings regarding student support issues for practice Attendance is compulsory This will be part of your personal tutor meeting

29 Organising yourself Consider your time management skills Attendance in class demonstrates professional commitment Create a folder in your ‘H’ drive for each of your modules to store your notes. Keep your references here using the proper referencing system. This will save you time in the long run and improve your marks

30 Feeling disorganised/not keeping up with the course Talk to your personal tutor It’s never too late Remember there are no repeats of modules as there were with ‘A’ levels Year one results contribute 10% to your degree classification
