4 Introduction “Right information to the right user at the right time” has been the motto of information professionals. Advancement of Information Technology and emerging trends in Internet has changed the concept of portal where the internal and external resources are the main components to the new system called “Knowledge portal”. Knowledge portal facilitate tacit and Explicit knowledge for users

Knowledge portal provides a single point of access to the tacit and explicit knowledge that support members of the institutions or organizations in all aspects of their learning, teaching, working, research and other activities. It offers various internal, external resources with other services which encompass and management of books, journals, databases, Web-sites, learning objects, library catalogue, email, forums, lesson learned, best practices and experiences of individual. It contains intelligent agent software to identify and automatically distribute information and knowledge effectively to knowledge workers based on knowledge profile

7 Objectives of K Portal To support working, learning, teaching, research and development To provide entry point to the web resources as well as local resources with special services To integrate internal and external resources that allows interoperability or cross search or federated search To Provide internal and external knowledge through a single plate form with the elimination of various interface and password To store and retrieve tacit and explicit knowledge of individuals To assist to short out any problems occurred in future as occurred in earlier To optimum utilization of resources
