An improper fraction is one where the numerator is larger than the denominator. To convert an improper fraction to a mixed number follow these 3 steps… Divide the numerator by the denominator Turn your remainder into a fraction Reduce your fraction to simplest form

Converting Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions
A mixed number is a special fraction that has a whole number and a fraction. To convert a mixed number to an improper fraction follow the recycling method… Multiply the denominator by the whole number. Add the numerator to the product found in the previous step. Place your sum found in step 2 over the original denominator of your mixed number.

Don’t Get M.A.D. M. A. D. Multiply the whole number times the denominator. Add the numerator to your product. Denominator is the same as the original improper fraction.
