2 Common Awards University of Durham Church of England and Methodist Church – Required for all training institutions for Anglican ordinands Validation process 2013-2014 – Queen’s validation visit took place in November 2013 All new undergraduate students at Queen’s will be registered with Durham from 2014 2 year full-time or 3 year-part time initial ministerial training will result in: – Diploma of Higher Education in Theology, Ministry and Mission Students with APEL may gain: – BA (Hons) in Theology, Ministry and Mission – MA in Theology, Ministry and Mission

3 Full time pathway Monday to Thursday teaching, worship and formation at Queen’s, Birmingham Local link church work Fridays and Sundays Regular tutorials with Queen’s staff Summer placement

4 Introduction to the Bible (20 credits) Brief Introduction to Church History (10 credits) Integrative Learning for Collaborative Practice: Black and Asian Theologies (10 credits) Foundations for Ministry and Worship in Context (20 credits) Brief Introduction to Christian Doctrine (10 credits) Introduction to Christian Worship (10 credits) Mission and Evangelism (20 credits) Placement (20 credits)

5 Full time pathway - suitability Students entering at Level 4 Students with APEL in theological studies (entering at Level 5 and exiting with a BA) Students who are qualified to undertake MA studies or post-graduate research Students who have significant learning support needs who would benefit from regular access to specialist learning support

6 Eight weekends per year at Queen’s, Birmingham Local link church work mid-week and Sundays Regular tutorials Summer placement Four regional days (north and south) On-line modules with tutor led Skype seminars and online forums Part Time pathway (QCC)

7 Introduction to Theological Reflection (10 credits) Introduction to Preaching as a presbyter or deacon (10 credits) Introduction to Christian Worship (10 credits) Methodist Spirituality and Practice (10 credits) Introduction to the Bible (20 credits) Placement (20 credits) QCC Year 1 modules (University of Durham, 2014 entry)

8 Part time pathway - suitability Students entering at Level 4 Students who can make 15 to 20 hours per week available for study and training
