3.  The Cheyenne and Sioux tribes were upset about leaving their sacred land of The Black Hills and living reservations.

4.  So they decided to gather in Montana with the Great Sitting Bull to fight for their sacred land of Black Hills.

5.  To force the Native American army back to the reservations, the U.S army of seventh cavalry dispatched three columns to attack the Native Americans. United States 7 th Cavalry

6.  Colonel George Custard decided to attack the Native Americans early without knowing that the Indians were three times bigger than his army.  Also, Major Marcus Reno underestimated the Native American advantage of the terrain and tried to attack the Native Americans.

7.  Due to the underestimation of the opponent, the Americans were trapped and forced to withdraw by the Native Americans.  The worst defeat of the this battle was when Custer and his men were killed by the Native American force of Ogala Sioux under Crazy Horse  As a result, the Native Americans gained a huge victory over the United States.
