How can I be saved from sin? Does God Really Have a “Five Step Plan?” BE BAPTIZED CONFESS REPENT A step plan can help a person overcome addiction. God has a plan for us to overcome sin and be saved. When we seek it in Scripture, we find that God’s plan is for sinners to HEAR, BELIEVE, REPENT, CONFESS and BE BAPTIZED. BELIEVE HEAR the gospel

2 How Can We Know God’s Plan?
Step plans are helpful in overcoming addiction. Sin is an addiction (John 8:34) If God has a plan for us to overcome sin, we would expect it to be simple, but require some effort to find and follow (2 Timothy 2:15; Isaiah 28:10)

3 Elementary Principles (Hebrews 6:1-2)
Elementary principles are basic things that must be understood before proceeding. You must know the alphabet in order to read and write. In Hebrews 6:1-2, we learn that faith, repentance, and baptism are elementary principles.

4 The Five Steps to Salvation are Connected in Scripture
Hear & Believe (Romans 10:17) Believe & Confess (Romans 10:9-10) Believe & Repent (Acts 20:21; Mark 1:15) Believe & be Baptized (Mark 16:16; Acts 8:36-38) Repent & be Baptized (Acts 2:38)

5 Conversion Accounts in Acts Contain the Steps to be Saved
Those on Pentecost were to REPENT and be BAPTIZED (Acts 2:38) The Samaritans in Acts 8 HEARD Philip preaching (Acts 8:5-6), BELIEVED what he preached (Acts 8:12), and "were BAPTIZED, both men and women" (Acts 8:12b). The Ethiopian HEARD Philip preach Jesus (Acts 8:35), BELIEVED in Jesus, CONFESSED his belief, and was BAPTIZED in water (Acts 8:36-38).

6 Conversion Accounts in Acts Contain the Steps to be Saved
Cornelius, HEARD Peter preach saving words (Acts 10:6; 11:14), told to BELIEVE for the remission of sins (Acts 10:43), and was BAPTIZED (Acts 10:47-48). Later (in Acts 11:18) we learn that he had also REPENTED. Lydia HEARD and was BAPTIZED (Acts 16:14-15) The Philippian jailor HEARD, was told to BELIEVE, and was BAPTIZED (Acts 16:30-33). "The Corinthians, HEARING, BELIEVED, and were BAPTIZED" (Acts 18:8).
