1 John 2:15-17

2 Christ’s Kingdom Has Come Premillennialism Opposes This Truth
Simon the Sorcerer Christ’s Kingdom Has Come Acts 8:12 Mark 9:1 Colossians 1:13 Revelation 1:6,9 Premillennialism Opposes This Truth Acts 8:9-13 ( NKJV ) 9But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great,  10to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.”  11And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time.  12But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.  13Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done. Mark 9:1 ( NKJV ) 1And He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.” Colossians 1:13-14 ( NKJV ) 13He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,  14in whom we have redemption £through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Revelation 1:6 ( NKJV ) 6and has made us a kingdom and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Revelation 1:9 ( NKJV ) 9I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

3 The Obvious Difference Between Bible Miracles and Counterfeits
Simon the Sorcerer The Obvious Difference Between Bible Miracles and Counterfeits Acts 8:9-13 Acts 4:16 2 Corinthians 12:12 Mark 16:17-20 Hebrews 2:3-4 1 Corinthians 13:8-13 Acts 8:9-13 ( NKJV ) 9But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great,  10to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.”  11And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time.  12But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.  13Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 4:13-17 ( NKJV ) 13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.  14And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.  15But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,  16saying, “What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.  17But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.” 2 Corinthians 12:11-12 ( NKJV ) 11I have become a fool £in boasting; you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you; for in nothing was I behind the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing.  12Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.  Mark 16:16-20 ( NKJV ) 16He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.  17And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;  18they£ will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.  20And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. Hebrews 2:3-4 ( NKJV ) 3how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,  4God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will? 1 Corinthians 13:8-13 ( NKJV ) 8Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.  9For we know in part and we prophesy in part.  10But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 11When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  12For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 13And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

4 The Gifts of the Spirit Were Given Only By The Apostles
Simon the Sorcerer The Gifts of the Spirit Were Given Only By The Apostles Acts 8:14-19 Romans 1:11 2 Timothy 1:6 Acts 6:5-6 Acts 8:14-19 ( NKJV ) 14Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,  15who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.  16For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.  17Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,  19saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” Romans 1:11 ( NKJV ) 11For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— 2 Timothy 1:6-7 ( NKJV ) 6Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.  7For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Acts 6:5-6 ( NKJV ) 5And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,  6whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.

5 Baptism Is Necessary For Salvation
Simon the Sorcerer Baptism Is Necessary For Salvation Acts 8:12-13 Eph. 4:4; 1 Cor. 12:13 Mark 16:16; 1 Peter 3:21 Acts 22:16; Romans 6:3-4 Acts 8:12-13 ( NKJV ) 12But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.  13Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done. Ephesians 4:4-6 ( NKJV ) 4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;  5one Lord, one faith, one baptism;  6one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 1 Corinthians 12:13 ( NKJV ) 13For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

6 A Child of God Can So Sin As To Be Lost
Simon the Sorcerer A Child of God Can So Sin As To Be Lost Acts 8:20-23 1 Corinthians 9:27 Galatians 5:4 Heb. 3:12-14; 6:4-6; 10:26-27 2 Peter 2:20-22 Acts 8:20-23 ( NKJV ) 20But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!  21You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.  22Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.  23For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.” 1 Corinthians 9:27 ( NKJV ) 27But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. Galatians 5:4 ( NKJV ) 4You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.  Hebrews 3:12-14 ( NKJV ) 12Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;  13but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.  14For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,  Hebrews 6:4-6 ( NKJV ) 4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,  5and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,  6£if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. Hebrews 10:26-27 ( NKJV ) 26For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,  27but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.  2 Peter 2:20 ( NKJV ) 20For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

7 Simon Was A Christian Simon had done exactly what the other Samaritans did. Peter did not tell Simon to believe and be baptized again. Simon passed the inspection of three inspired men – Philip, Peter, Luke.

8 A Saint in Sin can be Restored
Simon the Sorcerer A Saint in Sin can be Restored Acts 8:22-24 James 5:19-20 1 John 1:8-9 Galatians 6:1-2 Acts 8:22-24 ( NKJV ) 22Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.  23For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.” 24Then Simon answered and said, “Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me.” James 5:19-20 ( NKJV ) 19Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,  20let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. 1 John 1:8-9 ( NKJV ) 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  Galatians 6:1-2 ( NKJV ) 1Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.  2Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
