16 School Based Placements With various Curriculum Areas in school. PE, Drama, ICT, School Kitchen, Caretaker etc. Places negotiated and agreed pending demand of numbers for each area. June 2012 – June 2013. Fitted out with school polo top and staff badge etc.

17 External Based Placements How many pupils? 80+ out this year. How do pupils find their placements? Ultimately by themselves. Types of placements? Mainly admin, retail, primary school, hair & beauty. Practical placements difficult due to insurance etc. Preparation for placements? Health & Safety, finding placements advice, essential paperwork. Start/Finish? June 2012 – June 2013. Which day? Probably Monday 11.40 a.m. onwards.

18 External Based Placements Monitoring of pupils? Attendance regularly checked. Staff contact (phone & visits) on a regular basis. Monitoring of placements? Connexions - health & safety, insurance, CRB checks. Termly visits. What if pupil can not find placement? Must find by May Half Term. Pupils will be given next available option. Some placements may not start until September. What if placement cancelled during year? Some placements do not work out for pupil and/or employer. Some employers cancel due to loss of staff, closure etc. Generally given chance to secure another placement. Essential paperwork? Placement packs issued following options selection process. Connexions placement forms, Parent Consent Forms etc. Presently seek a verbal agreement with employers.
