What’s the Accuracy of Various Thermometers? By Fabian Fernandez Mr. Hankins 1 st period

Problem Statement: What's the accuracy of different types of thermometers in different temperatures at 76(° F), 75(°F), 74(°F) ? What's the accuracy of different types of thermometers in different temperatures at 76(° F), 75(°F), 74(°F) ?

Research Paper: The Thermometer was invented during the 16th and 17th century. the name came from the Greek word thermos meaning warm and meter to measure. A thermometer has two important things the temperature sensor bulb on a mercury thermometer in which some change occurs with temperature, plus converting this physical change into a value the scale on a mercury thermometer. Finally in 1724 Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit produced a temperature scale which now is named after him. I learned that mercury is the most accurate out of all thermometers which where alcohol and kerosene. I learned that mercury is the most accurate out of all thermometers which where alcohol and kerosene. I also learned that mercury is the most commonly used thermometer its used for when people are sick too. I also learned that mercury is the most commonly used thermometer its used for when people are sick too.

Hypothesis: If the temperature is set to 76(°F), 75(°F), 74(°F). Then I hypothesize that The Kerosene thermometer will be most accurate.

Variables: Independent variable: Independent variable: - Type of thermometer Dependant variable: Dependant variable: -The temperatures recorded by the thermometers

Controlled Variables: Amount of temperature Amount of temperature How many thermometers How many thermometers The brand thermometer The brand thermometer Time of the day experimented on Time of the day experimented on The size of thermometer The size of thermometer

Data:

Conclusion Mercury turned out to be the most accurate out of all the other thermometers because it had the closest results compared to the other types of thermometers which where alcohol and kerosene. So my hypothesis was proved wrong. 9 Mercury was the most accurate cause it was closest to 76.2 which was the average Graph:
