3 Name the capital city. The capital city of Iceland is Reykjavik, which is 103,000 km sq. (Michael Powell) Reykjavik means Smokey Bay. Reykjavik is the world’s northernmost capital city and the nearest capital to the Arctic Circle. It is also one of the smallest.

4 Name the River that runs through the city The largest river that runs through Reykjavik is called the Ellioaa River. This river cannot be used by ships, but is one of the best salmon fishing rivers in the country. ( Abdullah and Selene )

5 Iceland’s Flag The Icelandic flag is blue with a red cross outlined in white all the way to the edges of the flag. The cross is over towards the left side in the style of the Danish flag. (Matthew, Michael and Leon)

8 Landmark –Geysir This is one of the most famous Icelandic landmarks. Strokkur Geysir spouts up to 35 metres every six minutes.

9 Landmark – The Golden Waterfall Gullfoss, or Golden Waterfall is Iceland’s most famous waterfall, falling 32 m into a deep canyon. When the sun is shining, you’re likely to see a rainbow through the spray.

10 Landmark – The Blue Lagoon. This lagoon is man-made and is the most photographed place in Iceland. The geothermally heated water is pumped up from a mile below the surface. The water is often described as ‘frosty blue’, although the water can be up to 40C.

11 What is the country famous for? Thermal geysirs are one of the most common sites in Iceland. Iceland has over two hundred volcanoes, but only thirty of them are still active. The ice-capped volcano Kalta is the most active. Reykjavik has a thermal beach, and the water in the lagoon can be up to 40 C The singer Bjork, whose music is playing. One of the most famous celebrities from Iceland was Magnus Magnusson who presented Mastermind.

15 Name the ocean Voyager sailed across to reach this country. The ‘Voyager’ has sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to reach the port of Reykjavik in Iceland, after leaving Oporto in Portugal.
