ICELAND HAS LOW MOUNTAINS IN THE CENTRAL PART AND HILLS ALONG THE COAST.

ON THE ISLAND THERE ARE 130 VOLCANOES,THE MOST IMPORTANT ARE: HEKLA, KATLA, LAKI, ASKJA AND KRAFLA. THE GEYSER IS A SOURCE OF HOT WATER THAT HAS PERIODIC ERUPTIONS. THEY CREATE COLUMNS OF HOT WATER AND STEAM. THE WORD GEYSER COMES FROM GEYESIR, WHICH IS THE NAME OF THE MOST FAMOUS GEYSER IN ICELAND.

They use geothermal energy to heat greenhouses. The majority is for vegetables, 4 ha tomatoes, 2,5 ha cucumbers and 1,5 ha chilly peppers.
Production per square meter is 42 kg per year for tomatoes, 24 kg per year for cucumbers and 12 kg per year for chilly peppers.
