2 BASIC LAYOUT There are many online sites that have examples of resume layouts. A quick resume template search would be beneficial. When searching for a layout have in mind that not all of them will fit your need. The layouts may vary from profession, field of study, work specific to student. Make sure you select a layout that applies to the level of experience and education you have.

3 Basic Layout Continued  Name  Address  Email Address  Education  Most recent first.  GPA  Major Extra Curricular Activities Volunteer work/ Community Service Honors and Awards Skills Work Experience (if any)

4 Basic Layout Continued  Include dates for school  Include hours for community service  Include leadership positions for extracurricular activities.  IMPORTANT: Scholarship resumes should describe you in a more straight forwards way than the personal statement. Keep to a list format as much as possible in order to make the resume more readable.

If your reader noticed within 20 seconds what you want the committee to learn about you, then most likely you have created an effective resume. If not, revise your resume by try bolding or moving important information.
