- Local snapshots allow for quick point-in-time recovery thereby reducing RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and giving greater volume management flexibility.  This can then be coupled with the benefit of off-site data protection recovery and recovery using the license-able Remote Snap feature.
These snapshots can then be asynchronously replicated to a remote Disaster Recovery site (DR).
The copied volume and snapshots can be mounted and used for recovery, or they can be actively used. Upon failback the source volume is updated with that changed data.
- SMI-S is a feature which allows for the management of an array or a pool of multiple arrays based on industry defined standards and commands. It allows administrators greater flexibility and simplifies the job of managing multiple systems.
