2 ADOBE INDESIGN  Agricultural communicators know how to create visually appealing layouts for print and electronic media  Adobe InDesign is the industry standard for the creation of digital layout

3 CREATING A DOCUMENT Open Adobe InDesign. Choose Create New>Document. Click OK. Save as Project_Name.indd.

4  Guides allow for precision in creating layouts in InDesign  Guides can be used to line up objects, texts, and images RULERS AND GUIDES

5 MAKE RULER VISIBLE Right click at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical axis. If the ruler is not showing click CTRL+R. Select “Inches. horizontal and vertical axis

6 MAKE GUIDES VISIBLE Click on the View tab. Highlight Grids & Guides Select “Snap to Guides” Snap to Guides

7 MAKE GUIDES VISIBLE Click on the ruler at the top of the workspace. Drag the guide down to line up with 3.5 inches on your left ruler. Click and drag the ruler on the left. Line up the guide with 4.25 inches on your top ruler. 3.5 inches 4.25 inches

8 TEXT FRAMES Choose the Type Tool. Click and drag to create TWO separate text boxes. Choose the Selection Tool. Click on the outline of the textbox to reposition. type tool selection tool text box

9 PLACING TEXT Select the text frame with the Selection Tool. Choose File>Place>browse until you find you story. Select OK Click at the top left of the text box to place the text in the frame.

10 FITTING TEXT Note the red + sign at the bottom right of the text frame. This indicates there is additional text within the frame. Click the red box. Click at the top left of the second text box to place the remainder of the text. additional text

11 PLACING IMAGES Choose File>Place> browse until you find your image. Select OK Click to place the image where you would like. To resize the image, hold Control+Shift while dragging the top left corner of the image.
