2 The most powerful forces on our own socialization as individuals are known as agents of socialization or socializing agents (Amezdroz et al, 2010). They are the significant others that teach us to accept and acknowledge our cultural customs, values and norms (Amezdroz et al, 2010, p.479).

Parents and Families Two of the most powerful influences on socialisation (Amezdroz et al, 2010, p.487). Parents usually treat boys and girls differently from the time they are born. They talk to boys and girls differently and have different expectations of them.
