You will receive a “0” if this deadline isn’t met. Writing Workshop  Sit with assigned partner  Whole-class review Peer-Editing Rubric  Peer-Edit Draft #2 (20 min.): “OT” & “RAI”  Discuss Required Format “Critical Reading Checklist”  2009 Speech share w/ partner… will turn in

2 Notes: Speeches  Speech: nonfiction work that is delivered orally to an audience  Political Speech: Focuses on an issue relating to government of politics. Usually, the speaker is trying to persuade people to think or act in a certain way.  An Address: A formal speech that is prepared for a special occasion.  A Sermon: A speech this is usually based on a scriptural text and is intended to provide religious instruction.

3 Abraham Lincoln’s The Gettysburg Address (if time allows): On Your Own Paper: Authorial Background Notes (p. 537) Address (p. 539)/Complete “Critical Reading Checklist” Notes Vocab.  Each group is responsible for completing an exemplary square on the SmartBoard

Groups  Assign a scribe- someone to write members’ names and group-determined vocab. words  Vocab. Squares on your desk (Chose the best, in preparation for whole-class share)  Place copies of Inaugural Speeches on your desk  Distribute/Discuss “Checklist for Close Reading”  Vocab.
