2 Mission of the ESPON 2013 programme “To support.. territorial cohesion and..harmonious development of the European territory by: 1.Providing comparable information, evidence, analyses and scenarios on territorial dynamics; 2.Revealing territorial capital and potentials for development.. contributing to European competitiveness, territorial cooperation and a sustainable and balanced development”.

3 European Observation Network on Territorial Development and Cohesion Jointly funded by 31 countries and the ERDF, 2008-2013. €47 million 100% project funding 6 UK research institutions in 2008- 10 projects At least 7 more UK institutions successful in projects tendered 2009.
