1. Santa Teresa Elementary Energy Conservation Plan 2012-2013

2. Vision By working together with both staff and students, STE can and will create a thriving energy program which benefits the school as a whole.  Ensuring that all school electronics are on standby mode when not in use.  Turning off lights in rooms which aren’t occupied.  Unplugging all power sources while students and staff are on a prolonged holiday.  Encouraging habits which promote useful, not wasteful, energy consumption.

3. Action In order to enact our Vision, however, the following steps have been created:  Activating an Energy Team  Assessing the levels at which our school can function without being overgenerous.  Identify the areas where, after an assessment is conducted, Energy consumption can be reduced and therefore improvements can be made throughout the school.

4. Energy Personnel  3 rd Grade GT Students  4 th Grade GT Students  5 th Grade GT Students  6 th Grade GT Students All active Energy personnel will involve students from Santa Teresa Elementary performing several tasks which will assess and benchmark energy use around the school. It is through their findings that STE will be able to benefit most.

5. What will all this effort accomplish?What will all this effort accomplish? Energy consumption levels within STE will reduce to a manageable status and will remain that way while the established Energy Team will perform weekly assessments to maintain that manageable level. Another goal that this initiative will accomplish will be that of creating lifelong learners who will embrace a philosophy of energy conservation and apply it at home.
