2 Foundation High School Program Including an endorsement 26 credits
Graduation Requirements for Students Entering High School in and thereafter Expectation for all incoming 9th-grade students Distinguished Level of Achievement Including an endorsement 26 credits including Algebra II Foundation High School Program Including an endorsement 26 credits Students must earn DLOA to be eligible for top 10% automatic admission Foundation High School Program 22 credits To review Students must earn 22 credits under the Foundation High School Program and pass five EOC exams. Students will pursue an endorsement by earning an additional math and science credit and two electives. 3 Types of Endorsements Multidisciplinary Studies
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Business and Industry Public Services Arts and Humanities Each endorsement includes a complete list of courses that students can choose from to fulfill endorsement requirements NEISD will offer courses under all endorsements, but specific course offerings may vary from school to school HB 5 outlines five endorsements that students may pursue. Multidisciplinary Studies. STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; Business and Industry; Public Services; and Arts and Humanities. Students may earn more than one endorsement. Each endorsement includes a complete list of courses that students can choose from to fulfill endorsement requirements. NEISD will offer courses under all endorsements, but specific course offerings may vary from school to school. A complete listing of courses eligible for each endorsement will be shared through the NEISD website and your school counselors.

4 DLOA Foundation Graduation Plan Requirements (26 Credits)
4 Credits of English Language Arts 4 Credits of Math (Algebra II required) 4 Credits of Science 3 Credits of Social Studies (4 for some endorsements, strongly encourage 4. ) 2 Credits of Foreign Language (must be same language) 1 Credit of PE (or 2 semesters) 1 Credit of Fine Arts .5 Credit of Health 5.5 or 6.5 Credits of Electives (to include endorsement requirements)

5 IMPORTANT INFORMATION for completing your Course Card
Use PENCIL on course card. Write in alternate courses! Parent/Guardian must sign choice card. MacArthur Course Fair January 27 at 6:00 pm Course Catalog: available online under “Course Selection” on MacArthur’s webpage under “Counselor’s Corner.” Pay attention to courses listed on our card! You can NOT repeat a course. (example: You cannot select Health or Healthy Lifestyles if you took Health as an 8th grader, and received credit.)

ENGLISH English I, English I Honors, English I GT/Honors Only select GT if you are currently in GT MATH Algebra (You must pass Algebra I to take any other math course.) Geometry, Geometry Honors, Geometry GT/Honors Only select Geometry if you are currently in Algebra I this year and will earn a full credit

10 Course Sequence for Core Classes
SCIENCE Biology, Biology Honors IPC (Integrated Physics/Chemistry) – This course is for those students whose math/science skills aren’t as strong. Needs teacher approval. SOCIAL STUDIES World Geography, World Geography Honors, AP Human Geography (World Geography/AP Human Geography count as the same course credit.) and/or World History, World History Honors (It is strongly suggested that 9th graders take World Geography before World History.)

1. Click on “Course Requests”

13 2. Enter your courses by subject, description, or course number
2. Enter your courses by subject, description, or course number. Entering the course # is the easiest way to find a course you are looking for. Enter an H before the course #: Example: H1113 3. Click “add” (You can only enter 7 “requests”.)

14 4. Enter alternates, by choosing “alternates.”
(You can only enter 3 “alternates.”)

15 5. Put your alternates in the order of your
1st choice to 3rd choice.

16 If you are registering for a Career and Technology course, you will need to apply at: : Click on Application Process at the top of the page. ** Please note that these courses take up 2 class periods in your schedule ** CTEC courses, 2 class periods in your schedule.

18 7. You (and your parent/guardian) can view or change your courses until Feb After Feb. 21, you will need to request the change (in writing) through your high school counselor.

19 SCHEDULE CHANGES After Feb. 21, 2020 if a schedule change for the school year is necessary, a course change request should be submitted in writing, including the reasons for the change, and must include a parent's signature. Course change requests must be submitted by May 28, 2020 to the MacArthur Counseling Office. Changes may NOT be considered after Thursday, May 28, 2020, at 4:30 p.m. unless a student fails a summer school class or attends summer school/summer credit recovery and gains credit for a course selected for the school year.
