4 New Graduation Requirements O Foundation High School Program (FHSP) O Students currently in high school may choose from old or new plans O Students entering 9 th grade in 2014-15 will graduate on new FHSP

5 Core Requirements of The New FHSP O 4 English (Eng I, Eng II, Eng III, and an Advanced English) O 3 Math (to include Alg I and Geom) O 3 Science (to include Bio) O 3 Social Studies (W. Geog or W. Hist, US History, Gov’t, and Econ) O 1 PE O 1 Fine Art O 2 credits of the same foreign language O 5 electives

6 With few exceptions, ALL students will be required to earn an endorsement in one of the following areas: 1. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) 2. Business and Industry 3. Public Services 4. Arts and Humanities 5. Multidisciplinary Studies The FHSP with Endorsements The career cluster you choose in Bridges will fit under one or more of these endorsements. We will not know the specific requirements for each endorsement until some time in the 2013-2014 school year.

7 The FHSP with Endorsement Each endorsement requires 26 credits total, including: O 4 th math O 4 th science O 2 additional electives

8 FHSP + Distinguished Level of Achievement To earn the distinguished level of achievement, students must complete: The FHSP An endorsement Algebra II Students completing the distinguished level will be eligible for college admission under the Top 10% automatic admissions provision.

15 4. Choose a Career Cluster

16 5. Add to Your Plan Step 5

17 6. Starting with English, edit each cell to add or delete courses

18 One row at a time, edit the 4 core areas. Every row should have a green “On Track” check.

19 7. Add the extracurricular activities you intend to take through high school O Athletics or ROTC (Physical Education row) O Ag classes for FFA participation (CTE row) O Drill Team, Art, Theater, Choir, Orchestra (Fine Arts row) Band A (Physical Education row) Band B (Fine Arts row)

20 8. Consider the recommended CTE courses for your chosen career cluster and add remaining requirements to your plan O Don’t forget to add Fine Arts (1 cr) PE (1 cr) Foreign Language (2 cr) Ex: Spanish 1 & Spanish 2

21 Check the column totals: 7 (or 8 HHS) credits per year

22 When it’s perfect, click Submit for approval

23 Am I locked into this cluster and these courses? No. You will look at “next year’s courses” each spring while in high school. To make a change, get with your counselor.

24 Log into Bridges frequently! O Log in from home and show your parents your High School Course Plan O Message your counselor in Bridges to ask questions O Search for colleges and universities O Search for interesting careers within your Cluster
