3 Course Organization & Assessment
90 contact hours (30 sessions x 3 hours) 5 minutes break for every 55 minutes study Purpose: help students make a broad improvement in all areas of English usage. Promote to Level 2 Introductory Certificate in General English (based on quality and consistency of your performance throughout the course) The course is textbook-based. (textbook + workbook + supplementary worksheets)

7 Continuing Education Fund (CEF)
Students can apply for a refund of fees up to HK$10,000 or 80% of the fees incurred, as long as they registered with the CEF office in advance of the start of the course. Students must pass FCGE and an external English language examination to qualify for the refund. Cambridge Business Language Testing Service (BULATS) exams (through SPACE)

8 How to get the fullest benefit from the course:
You must: Attend the class regularly and on time Do all assignments and hand in them on time Switch off your mobile phone during the lesson Take part actively in all activities and exercises Extend your study outside the classroom: expose yourself under English speaking environment as much as possible Not only learn the grammar rules but also the usage of them

9 How to study English outside the classroom?
Listen to English radio programme (BBC) Watch English television programme regularly, especially the news (Pearl, BBC, CNN, Cable TV, etc) Watch movies/films (or DVDs) (English subtitle) Reading English newspapers (SCMP), magazines (Asian Week, Forbes) and books Speak English as much as you can (at office, in the street, travelling aboard, migration) Have a critical mind when you come across anything in English
