1 “Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room.” ~Jeff Bezos, Amazon
I had a boss early on tell me that if no one hears from me or hears about my accomplishments they would go unnoticed. I was a doer. At my desk working more than engaging with others. I was doing more than I was expecting constantly going above and beyond. My manager said yes people see you as a hard working but they do not know your accomplishments. If they do not know your specific accomplishments how will they know what your goals are and what your competencies are? This was a wake-up call as I always thought that my work would speak for itself. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA

“Branding is something designers think about a lot. You take something like a perfume or a car tire or a butt flavored bubble gum, and you ask questions about it that you shouldn’t be able to ask. What kind of tuxedo would this car tire wear to the prom? What is this perfume’s favorite movie? You try to end up in a place where you understand a product as if it is a person.” ― Hank Green, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing
