Have students take out their half sheet and mark down what they most likely want at this point. Students who want to switch out of their major should wait until the end of the presentation to talk to UAAC. M

4) BE FLEXIBLE AND PATIENT
M You might run into roadblocks or conflicts that prevent you from enrolling in the classes you want … … but you can still enroll in classes you need. Use Schedule Planner to reduce scheduling conflicts. Schedule Conflict Advisor 2 Emphasize students shouldn’t be too picky about their courses—esp during orientation; students can figure out schedule more at home. GE
24
5) DON’T “WAIT” Fall: 2019 # Course Units 1 GE A1: COMM 1100 3 2 GE B4: Math 1090 & Math 1091* OR Math 1092 3-4 GE E: BUS 1010 or GE 4 ENGL 1005A* or GE 5 GE 15-16 units Don’t rely on the waitlist to register for the classes you need, because you might end up under enrolled and off track. Waitlist gets canceled the first day of class! Advisor 2 Have students take out their 3 term plan and take a look. Emphasize the “or GE” means any lower GE on their GE chart that has not yet been completed; students do NOT need to follow the planner exactly as scheduled. Aim to leave orientation today fully enrolled in at least 15 units.
25
? 6) When in doubt, ask! Advisors are here today -- and will be with you throughout your career at Cal State LA -- to help you create the best plan for your path to graduation.
26
ChANGING MAJORS At this time, OLs will escort students who wish to change to a major outside of the college – or to Undeclared – to meet with UAAC advisors. Students may not switch to pre-Nursing, but we can help you chose a major that fits your goals and interests.
27
GET READY TO REGISTER! Advisor 1
Have students take out half sheet at this point. Let students know that they must complete this half sheet once they are done enrolling and hand to an advisor to be checked before they leave. Go over “planned” and “enrolled;” emphasize that students should have all 5 enrolled UNLESS they have financial services/aid issues. REGISTER!
