4 Director’s Report: Proposed Legislative Water Policy Issues for 2020
Today’s stakeholder meeting will focus on the issues having the greatest support from our August meeting Some of the 26 issues have been combined There are now 15 issues One issue was added Issue papers are available for each We will again break into small groups and ask for: Specifics on legislation under each of the remaining issues Things that are missing

5 Remaining Legislative Issues Part I
Following is a list of priority issue that evolved from the August meeting: Permanent Funding for SWCDs (Added Issue) Simplify water-quality standard review and revision process (Issue 1) Address Funding for the Environment--Outcomes (Issue 2A) Promote healthy soil and healthy water (Issue 2C). Understanding Minnesota’s most important water priorities (Issue 3A)

6. Ensure clean and sustainable groundwater drinking water for the future (Issue 3D) 7. Evaluate and prioritize water storage facilities (Issue 4A) 8. Increase research for Smart Technology for Agriculture (Issue 4 C) 9. Protect our lakes and lakes and groundwater Issue 5D 10. Increase efforts to encourage wastewater and storm-water treatment (Issue 5E)

11. Increase support to improve Minnesota’s water infrastructure (Issue 6C) 12. Create a Department of Water Resources (Issue 7A) 13. Suggest ways to allow for greater coordination to leverage programs (Issue 7D) 14. State Assumption of federal wetland permit responsibilities (Issue 1C) 15. Simplify the irrigation water appropriation process (Issue 1B)
