2 Combining Sentences Using AND (Predicate and Subject Nouns)
Learning Intention: Demonstrate correct English grammar and usage when writing Success Criteria: Combine two sentences with and to connect subject and predicate nouns.

3 When do we combine the sentences?
When two sentences have the same subject, you can combine the predicates with the word and. Example: The seagull flew over my head. The seagull landed on the roof. The seagull flew over my head and landed on the roof.

4 What did we do then to join the sentences?
We took out the repeated Subject ! And combine the predicate nouns. The seagull flew over my head. The seagull landed on the roof. The seagull flew over my head and landed on the roof.

5 When do we combine the sentences?
When two sentences have the same predicate, you can combine the subjects with the word and. Example: My dad drives the boat. My brother drives the boat. My dad and brother drive the boat.

6 What did we do then to join the sentences?
We took out the repeated predicate ! My dad drives the boat. My brother drives the boat. My dad and brother drive the boat. Note: The predicate changes as the subjects become plural.

7 Now .. With your group .. You’ll have different sentences to identify whether they are combined subjects or predicates nouns. Tell whether they are subject nouns or predicate nouns Post them in the right poster
