DO drop your student off on the Brookhurst side of the school. Fifth grade ambassadors are there to open car doors and assist with exiting. DO have your student ready to exit the vehicle. DON’Ts Don’t pull into the teacher/front parking lot to park or drop off your student. Don’t park or drop off your student anywhere on the Waterview side of school - only the Brookhurst side. 11 Dismissal School ends at 3:00pm. Students will wait in designated dismissal areas facing Brookhurst (PK-1st) and Waterview(2nd -5th). Students are required to notify their teacher that their parent or guardian is here to pick them up. The teacher must acknowledge that they see the parent or guardian before a student is allowed to leave the teacher. Students will not be dismissed to meet across the street, even if the teacher sees the parent. Students will only be released to the individuals designated as their pick-up contacts. A change in normal after school pick-up should be submitted to the teacher in writing. Break this slide up too into several slides. I thought it was 3:10 p.m. that we come back in the building.

12 Dismissal Students will not be dismissed early between 2:40 and 3:00pm. Please avoid scheduling appointments that would require you to pick up your child between these times. At 3:15 any students not picked up will be brought back into the building. Parents arriving after 3:15 will need to come into the building to sign their child out. During inclement weather, students will be dismissed from their classrooms. Parking is permitted in the church lot or on side streets. Brookhurst is closed from 2:50-3:10 for dismissal. Break this slide up too into several slides. I thought it was 3:10 p.m. that we come back in the building.

13 Dallas ISD Uniform Policy
Solid white or navy tops. Shirts should have a collar and stay tucked in throughout the day. Solid khaki, navy blue, or black bottoms. If the bottoms have a belt-loop. A belt should be worn. Jackets may not have offensive slogans, symbols, or other suggestive or controversial designs. Please make sure your child’s name is in their jacket. Students should wear athletic shoes and white socks. OUR ROOMS ARE VERY COLD, SO WE RECOMMEND LEAVING A UNIFORM SWEATER OR JACKET AT SCHOOL.

14 Lunch & Recess The 30 minute lunch period is divided into two parts:
Be Mindful: First ten minutes all students are seated. This is a time to relax and reflect and enjoy their meal. Students should be eating silently. Be Social: Remaining 20 minutes. Students may talk with classmates in a quiet restaurant voice seated while they finish eating. You are welcome to join your child for lunch on Fridays ONLY. Our goal is to create independent children and too many parent visits can disrupt the school day. We ask that you only sit with only your child at a empty table so that we can maintain our mindful and social times during lunch. This year we will go back to celebrating birthdays after lunch and before recess on the pavilion. This way you can visit for lunch and stay for small treats. Please remember that only store bought items are allowed per Dallas ISD policy. Recess: 5th Grade students have one recess time. It will be after lunch at 1:15. Changed some wording here

15 Communication Please make sure all contact information is up to date. Because of school emergencies, please make sure your phone number is correct.
