18 Class work/homework pg.54
Determine your family values An effective way to quickly identify your values set is this: Make a list of things very important in your life- so important that you cant be happy without them. Your first draft may be very long. You will narrow it down in subsequent steps. Revisit each value you listed and identify why you listed it. What is it about this value that causes you to believe its one of your core values? Do you need it in your life to be happy? Without it life would seem intolerable? If there’s any doubt, strike it out. Repeat this process until you have a short list of about six values clearly describing what you need for life to be meaningful and fulfilling.

19 III. Setting your standards
Personal standard- rule or principle you set for yourself. *(what you will and will not do!) Peer pressure- the influence of others in your age group. Proactive- taking the initiative to think and plan ahead for situations you might encounter.

Character in Action Positive values, set personal standards, and make ethical choices A learning process (learn from your experience) Is rooted in positive values and rooted in a person’s actions ** “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.
