Objective:
Today we will review how one type of rock can become another type of rock.
Daily Question:
Explain how an igneous rock can turn into a metamorphic one and give an example of a rock that has done this.

2. Advanced Menu Project – MUST TOTAL 50 POINTS
Create a children’s book on the rock cycle. The cover should have a picture of the rock cycle, and each page should contain details about the different processes and rock types of the rock cycle.(20pts)
Narrate a journal entry for a rock’s journey through the rock cycle. This needs to be either 1 page typed. This needs to be in first person and should include thoughts or feelings. (30pts)
Create a card game based on the steps and types of rocks in the rock cycle. Spaces along the game board should include facts about traveling through the rock cycle. You need to include rules so I know what the objective of your game is and how it’s played. (25pts)
Create a scrapbook for the life of a rock as it went through the rock cycle. This needs to be at least 5 pages in length. Use pictures and be creative when describing its adventures.(20pts)
Create a comic strip for the “life” of a rock as it travels through it’s rock “life” cycle. Include pictures, thought bubbles and dialogue.(15pts)
Create a mineral mobile that shows and describes 10 different minerals. This should include pictures, 3 important facts about each mineral, and the name of the mineral. (15pts)
Fill out a “Mighty Minerals” report. This includes researching a particular mineral, finding out its everyday uses and creating an advertisement that describes why it’s important.(20pts)
Prepare a news report about an igneous rock that changes into a sedimentary rock. Consider the kinds of questions that a reporter would ask. Answer the questions about “who” the rock is, what happened, and where and how it all took place. The script should be at least 2 pages written or 1 page typed.(15pts)
Develop a birth certificate for a newly formed rock and create a story describing the lineage of the new “baby” rock. (10pts)
