1 P.E(Wednesday and Friday)
ENGLISH As Writers, we are going to be writing a non-chronological report on bees. This is a chance for us to understand these wonderful creatures who never stop moving and educating others of their importance in our world. As well as this, we will be writing a short myth about how elephants and bees have a very special relationship. Also, we will be exploring and creating some movement poetry which we will perform. MATHEMATICS As Mathematicians, we will be applying our calculation and measurement skills to a number of practical enquiries based around a fiction book during maths day. We will also be learning more about 2d and 3d shapes to create models and measure them accurately. This will be additional to our usual mathematics lessons. READING As Readers, we will be reading a whole host of different genres. From non-fiction texts about bees to movement poetry, we will continue to explore less well-known literature about movement. As well as this, Arthur and the Golden rope by Joe Todd Stanton will be our class novel and we will follow his epic journey back in time. Lets move! – Take 2 Year 3 – Term 4 P.E(Wednesday and Friday) As Footballers, we will begin by learning how to keep control of the ball. This will then progress into how to find space on a pitch and keeping the ball moving. We will practise skills which are essential to playing this team sport such as passing/receiving the ball and using the whole width of a pitch when necessary. Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit including trainers. At times, children will be completing lessons outside if the weather is fine. HISTORY As Historians, we will be learning about the history of transport. We will be asking questions about why transport has changed throughout the years and the consequences of this. We will complete short studies which show a timeline of changes from the early 1900’s to the modern day. DT As Designers, we will be making a tracks and tunnels board game which can be played with a friend. We will be using our mathematics to draw a board to 100 accurately and select appropriate stages for a player to go into a tunnel or over a track. This links with the British Science week theme of ‘Journeys on Earth and beyond.’ SCIENCE As Scientists, we will discover the different types of rocks and how they are formed. We’ll compare and group rocks based on appearance and simple properties. We will learn how fossils are formed and learn about the contribution of Mary Anning to the field of palaeontology. As well as this, we will be taking part in a whole host of ‘hands-on’ science during science week which will be great fun and develop our scientific understanding GEOGRAPHY As Geographers, we will be using our map knowledge from last term and using it to locate countries and describe their features. We will also be finding a variety of human and physical features of some countries in Europe and beyond. ART As Artists, we will explore lines, marks and tones through monoprinting on a variety of papers to create an image. We will mix colour through the prints that we make and use stencils to create new effects.
