5 Cougar Ridge Elementary
Current Staffing 4 to 5 classes at each grade level The “New” Cougar Ridge: Cougar Ridge was under construction during the 2017 – 18 school year. The office and Special Education wing were remodeled and 6 new classrooms were added.

Demographics: Cougar Ridge has as a “Community” feel and is growing. Many volunteers… Current Enrollment: 605 students (K-5) More and More Ethnically Diverse 2005 – 06: 59.3% 2017 – 18: 49.4% 2018 – 19: 42.6%

Programs: - LRC I…Special Education-Pull-out/Push-in Model - LRC II…Special Education-Inclusionary Model - Highly Capable (K-5) Many Activities *After School/Before School Clubs *Before and After School Childcare (BASC) *Numerous PTSA Events

School Wide Focus: - School Improvement Plan (SIP) - Reading is our Current Focus School Wide (Year 1). Gap Closing emphasis with students receiving direct reading services (LAP and SPED).

Full day kindergarten is now free for all ISD students Funding provided through the State of Washington Requirements for all kindergarten teachers Teacher Training Family Connection Meeting (fall) WaKids Assessment (fall) Early Learning Collaboration w/preschools

Bell Times: - Full Day Kindergarten 9:15 am – 3:40 pm (M, T, TH, F) 9:15 am – 1:30 pm (W) - Transportation to and from school is provided. Please ride the bus.

12 Cougar Ridge Elementary
Bell Times: - Half-Day Kindergarten (3 hour day) 9:15 am – 12:15 am (M - F) AM transportation to school only. No mid-day transportation. No lunch is served.

15 Registration Complete Online Application
Bring the following to the Office Parent Identification Transportation Release Form Immunization Records (Current) Proof of Birth Date (Birth Certificate or Passport) (Student must be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2019) Utility Bill (Gas, Water, or Electric) ONE of the following: Home Purchase Papers or Property Tax Statement Lease/Rental Agreement (Original) Notarized Verification of Proof of Residency

3. Once all previously mentioned documents are received, you will be give one final packet of forms to complete. 4. Sign up for spring assessment on Thursday, April 4. Deadline to submit Kindergarten Registration Packet is Friday, March 3:30 pm

17 Enrollment Verification Process (EVP) August 7 - 13
ISD requires all families to confirm their enrollment in August through Family Access. EVP reminders will come via ISD E-News, Cougar Ridge E-News, and phone messaging. Office staff can help answer questions beginning Tuesday, August 7. Please call during office hours (9:00 am – 3:00 pm).

18 Bus Rides/Readiness Fair
August 6, 7, and 8 (Optional) “Come Ride Along” on the Yellow School Bus 9: :00 am IHS Parking Lot, Register online August 12 (Optional) “Ready for School” Fair (help with Online Verification) 9:00 am - Noon at Maywood Middle School Library and 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Clark Valley Elementary Library.

19 Important Information
Immunizations: All kindergarten students must have their immunizations current in order to start the first day of school. Healthcare Plans, including proper medication, must also be current by the first day of school. Reminder letters will be mailed in August. Contact our Nurse at

Apr. 4 – Spring Assessment July 8 – Aug. 2: Pre-K Summer IVE Sept. 3 – Meet Your Teacher/Ice Cream Social/School Pictures Sept. 3 – Kindergarten Curriculum Night Sept. 4 – 6: Family Connection Meetings Sept. 9 – 1st Day of Kindergarten Fall – WaKids Assessment

Which kindergarten program is best for my student(s)? What if the program I initially select for my student is not the right fit? If I choose the half-day program, what will my student miss? Do I have to send my child to Kindergarten when the are 5 years old?
