3 About Mrs. Arroyo BS Mathematics: Math Education degree from CSU Dominguez Hills. Received Single Subject (Math) and later Multiple Subject Credential at CSUDH. Taught: 3 years at high school at a charter school 6 years at Catholic elementary schools I attended a Catholic elementary and high school and feel a great sense of home on these properties.

5 Middle School Life 3 Classrooms and 3 Teachers
We only have students for 90 minutes or less in a classroom Students need to be prepared and responsible Can not go back to homeroom for missing items Gradelink keeps parents, children, and teacher informed Check regularly Set up to you for incompletes and low grades If there is a problem, please have the student discuss it with the teacher outside of instruction time Homework Board Shows objective (topic of discussion) Homework

7 Math Curriculum and Standards
If you are absent 1 day, it is really 1.5 days of a traditional program. Students must make up all classwork, notes, and homework if absent

10 Standardized Testing (STAR)
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is using Renaissance Learning STAR testing in Reading and Math Done on the computer System will adjust test questions based on student response The students will take the STAR reading and math tests three times a year. The results will be sent home with the student in the days after the class finishes taking the test

11 Responsibility Focus for the children to learn to be responsible
THEY bring supplies, problem solve when they forget something, be prepared It is okay to not be perfect all the time Parents, take a step back from the classroom Give chores Check gradelink with your student Check agenda with your student

12 “Giving Tree” If you would like to help support any of the middle school STEMs, take an apple. All the items are inexpensive Thank you for your continuing support
