Therefore it is the responsibility of everyone to work together and practice good cyber hygiene to protect DoD systems and networks. DoD released the 2018 Cyber Strategy in September 2018. As aligned with the National Cyber Strategy, 2018 Department of Defense Cyber Strategy: Articulates how DoD implements the National Defense Strategy in cyberspace. Describes how the Department aims to Compete, Deter, and Win alongside allies and partners in cyberspace. Directs DoD to defend forward, shape the day-to-day competition, and prepare for war. The JAIC is a centralized center of excellence established to accelerate and scale the use of AI across the DoD and support the full AI application lifecycle. The goal of the JAIC is to use AI to solve large problem sets that touch multiple services, then build out libraries of data sets and tools that services and DoD Components can use JAIC is initially focusing on the following NMIs: Predictive Maintenance (PMx) – Better forecast, diagnose, and manage maintenance issues to reduce costs, increase safety and improve operational efficiency Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Relief (HA/DR) – Reduce the time associated with search and discovery, resource allocation decisions, and executing rescue and relief operations to save lives and livelihood during disaster operations Cyber Sensemaking – Detect and deter advanced adversarial cyber actors who infiltrate and operate within the DOD Information Network (DoDIN) to increase security, safeguard sensitive information and allow warfighters and engineers to focus on strategic analysis and response.
