3 Driving under the Influence of Alcohol.
1. Introduction: Driving under the influence (DUI), or driving while intoxicated (DWI), is driving a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or other drugs, to a level that renders the driver incapable of operating a motor vehicle safely. In most countries, driver's licence suspensions, fines and prison sentences for DUI offenders are used as a deterrent. Anyone who is convicted of driving while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs can be heavily fined and/or given a prison sentence. Continue ©Transport Logistics Consultants.

4 Continue Some interesting Statistics:
On average, a drunk driver will drive 80 times under the influence before their first arrest. Every 51 minutes, someone is killed in a drunk driving crash. Someone is injured in a drunk driving incident every 120 seconds. In 2010, of the fatalities among children ages 14 and younger, 17 percent occurred in alcohol impaired-driving crashes. Kids and teens who get involved with alcohol at a young age are 7 times more likely to be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lives. Continue ©Transport Logistics Consultants.

6 2. Dangers of Alcohol and Legislation,
What is Alcohol: Alcohol is a depressant drug. It slows down the activity of the central nervous system. Blood Alcohol Content: Drinking enough alcohol to cause an increased blood alcohol concentration (BAC) typically causes a flushed, red appearance in the face and impaired judgment and fine muscle coordination. The final stages of intoxication causes unconsciousness, life-threatening respiratory depression and possibly fatal alcohol poisoning. Studies have shown that the risk of being involved in an accident increases with the level of intoxication of the driver, and this is up to 25 times as great compared to the driver that has not consumed any alcohol. 7 Continue Typical Legislation:
The legal implications could be any of the following: Jail time Heavy fines Confiscation of vehicle Suspension of license This can also get worse when the driver is a repeat offender, or other people are killed through the drivers negligence and recklessness. 8 3. Dealing with the Consequences,
After the Accident: Once the driver has been found to be under the influence of alcohol, he will be found guilty by default because of his condition and impaired driving abilities at that time. The First Step of Recovery from Alcohol The first step is to always get the commitment from the person who wants to recover from the addiction. Without their desire or agreement to begin on the road to recovery, the recovery process will never be a success. Getting alcohol out of the addicted person’s system is the second part of recovery. 9 Continue What Causes Alcohol Withdrawal? Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms
The main causes of the withdrawal symptoms is that the body has created a dependence on the alcohol. Now that it does not have that, it begins to demand it and the body begins to suffer the symptoms of this demand. Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms Symptoms of withdrawal can be psychological and physical. How much, how often and for how long someone consumed alcohol impacts their withdrawal symptoms. People who drink often and a lot experience the most extreme withdrawal symptoms. Rehabilitation: As with drug addiction in the previous lesson, any person addicted to alcohol, needs to go through a treatment program for this addiction so that they can become rehabilitated to society.
