4 Open Licence Customer Profile
Choosing Open Licence: Suitable for small to medium sized businesses with between 5 and 250 Desktops and prefer to pay-as-you-go Perpetual Licences – Open Licences are perpetual licences, i.e. once the invoice is paid, the customer owns the licence outright. Option to purchase the licences with or without Software Assurance Mixed Product Requirements – Customers can purchase a mix of different products and quantities across different Product Pools. Discounted pricing compared to retail boxed product (FPP) Centrally manage licences and Software Assurance benefits through Microsoft’s Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)

5 Open Licence Features 5 Licence minimum initial order to start a License Authorisation Number (LAN) (1 Licence minimum for Government). LAN lasts for 2 years After initial order single licences can be added as required to the same LAN Licences can be purchased with or without Software Assurance. Software Assurance must be acquired with the licence at time of purchase, it cannot be added at a later date. Downgrade rights – run a prior version of the software if required Open Licences are perpetual - The customer who purchases an Open Licence, purchases the privilege of running the specified version of the software indefinitely Download software, keys and access all your licensing information in one central location at the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)

6 Open Licence Options Open Licence has five categories depending on the customer profile. Each category has separate part numbers (SKU) and pricing. Open Business (for corporate / commercial customers) Open Government Open Academic Open Charity Open Volume (Level C) - for corporate customers (minimum of 500 points per pool)

Open Volume provides Corporate customers with a discount for larger volumes Minimum of 500 points required per pool (cannot spread points across pools) 3 Product Pools – Applications, Systems and Servers Application pool - Includes all desktop applications e.g. Office, Visio, Project Office Pro Plus licence = 2 Points i.e. 250 licenses to qualify Office Pro Plus licences with SA = 4 points i.e. 125 licences with SA to qualify Systems pool – Windows Professional Upgrade Windows Pro 8 Upgrade = 2 points Server pool – All server products e.g. Windows Server, Exchange Server etc. Windows Server 2012 Standard = 15 Points Windows Server 2012 CAL = 1 Point

Exception Examples: SQL Server Core Licences Windows Server Datacenter Dynamics CRM products MSDN Subscriptions - e.g. Visual Studio Pro with MSDN A qualified product will mentioned “Qlfd” in the description which identifies the product as a qualifying product for an Open/Open Value program minimum requirement Purchasing Software Assurance Counts towards the 5 licence minimum: A licence with Software Assurance = 2 Licences (in terms of meeting the minimum of 5) i.e., 3 x Office Pro Plus Licences with SA = 6 licences

13 Open Licence Ordering Process
A customer placing an Open Licence order for the first time receives a LAN and a Licence Number on acceptance of the order. The Licence Number corresponds to the specific order and consists of one or more line items. Each order generates a new Licence Number. A LAN may include many Licence Numbers and each Licence Number may include many line items. A LAN can be reused for two years to take advantage of the Open Licence pricing. A business may have multiple LANs reflecting purchases under Open Business over time The customer accesses the licence keys and software downloads from the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)

14 Open Licence Order Requirements
All Open Licence Orders must have the below information for For Reseller and End User (licensee): Company Name, Street Address, State, Post Code, Country Contact Name, address and phone number Valid License Authorization number for the customer (Reorders Only) Important - Valid End User (identical to their Windows Live ID ). This Windows account will be used by the End User to access the VLSC to download the software and licence keys

20 Open Value Company Wide Subscription
License one or more “Platform” products company wide on all desktops to start the agreement Annual True-Up (or True-Down) of Platform Products Additional products can be purchased in any quantity Additional products need to be ordered in the month that they are installed – note that you pay for a full years’ subscription irrespective of the number of months left until the anniversary payment Individual components of the CoreCAL cannot be purchased individually Buyout Option available - At the end of the 3rd year the customer can purchase the licences outright (approximately 1.75 times the annual cost)

21 Open Value Initial Order Process
Open Value Agreement must be accepted by End User (electronically) Distributor must submit their order within 30 days after agreement is accepted If the initial order is not received within 30 days from agreement creation, the agreement will be terminated. The initial order will go onto Hold to be reviewed and validated before approved and processed Customer receives an order confirmation which contains their Agreement and Order details. Customer downloads the software and product keys from the VLSC

24 What is EES and who is it for?
Open Value Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) is a subscription offering for Academic institutions with a Full Time Equivalent (FTE) of 5 or more Faculty / Staff Key Points Agreement Term 1 or 3 Year agreements with one-time 3 Year extension option Subscription Program Subscription licences with Software Assurance Annual Counting One annual count of FTE numbers Platform Products License at least one Platform Product based on FTE to start a new EES agreement Additional Products Additional products can be licensed in any quantity Student Option For student personally-owned devices or an institution-owned device assigned to the student’s exclusive use (i.e., a device checked out to a student for the school year)

25 EES Desktop Platform Products
The Desktop Platform products may be licensed individually or as a suite and must be licensed organisation-wide based on the FTE count. The EES platform products are: Windows Professional Upgrade Microsoft Office Professional Plus Microsoft Core CAL Suite or Enterprise CAL Suite Education Desktop Bundle Offerings: Education Desktop with Core CAL: Education Desktop with Enterprise CAL: Windows Professional Upgrade Microsoft Office Professional Plus Microsoft Core CAL Suite Microsoft Enterprise CAL Suite

26 EES Additional Products
Additional Products may be licensed in any quantity, however CoreCAL Suite component CALs must be licensed organisation-wide based on the FTE count.
